20 Travel Tales in 200 Words is a travel book with a twist! I love travel books, so when I find a book that has a different take on the usual destination guides, I’m happy to share. That’s why I’m offering a quick review of one I really enjoyed – enough to read it more than once – or twice. 20 Travel Tales in 200 Words by D. Marino and J. Malley is a travel book with a very personal touch that makes all the difference. If you’ve ever wanted the inside story of someone’s travel adventures – or misadventures – then you’re going to love reading these 200-word accounts of their visits to spots around the world!
The stories are super – and intimate – tales that focus on just one incident in each place. Imagine – one’s trip can become memorable because of visits from stray cats! Not exactly the usual trip memory, but it’s a great one. Or – perhaps a lost water shoe? Even better – sometimes the expected is more unexpected that we realize – you’ll find out when you read about the Couples’ Massage in The Maldives! So many choices – you’ll visit those and more, including Santorini in the Mediterranean, Jamaica, Costa Rica, and lots more.
Each short and very interesting story is illustrated by the authors’ gorgeous photography. For me, their intimate and beautiful photos are reason enough to buy the book. The photography spreads for each adventure bring one right into the adventure and truly help the reader get a sense, or a feel, for the sounds, smells, people, or animals of a place – and, of course, the vistas are amazing. Here are just a couple of examples (all photos copyright by the authors) of what you’ll find. Not all the photos are just scenic – many offer a quick insight into the locale or the lives of the folks who live there.
